December: Holiday Carols

As some of you may know, I have a collection of Latin holiday songs over at the GAUDIUM MUNDO blog, which runs from December 1 through December 31 each year. So, for today's Bestiaria post, I wanted to give you a preview of the coming week's holiday songs. December 1. The Latin holiday songs for December 1 are: Rudolphus, a Latin version of "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer," along with Puer Natus in Bethlehem.


December 2. The Latin holiday songs for December 2 are: O Hanukkah, a Latin version of "The Hanukkah Song" in honor of the beginning of Hanukkah, along with O Abies, a Latin version of "O Christmas Tree," and Resonet in Laudibus.


December 3. The Latin holiday songs for December 3 are: Angeli Canunt Praecones, a Latin version of "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing," along with Silentio noctis, a Latin version of the Polish carol, "Wśród nocnej ciszy."


December 4. The Latin holiday songs for December 4 are: Aquifolia Ornate, a Latin version of "Deck the Halls," along with Puer Nobis Nascitur.


December 5. The Latin holiday songs for December 5 are: Angelus ad Virginem along with Verbum supernum prodiens.


December 6. The Latin holiday songs for December 6 are: O Viri, Este Hilares, a Latin version of "God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen," along with Dies est laetitiae, and also In oriente sidus, a Latin version of the Polish carol, "Jakaż to gwiazda?"


December 7. The Latin holiday songs for December 7 are: Adeste Fideles, a Latin version of "O Come, All Ye Faithful," along with Quae stella sole pulchrior.
